C09 From Testing to Discernment: Accompanying Families Toward Sacramental Readiness

Readiness for the sacraments cannot be reduced to tests or memorization. The Church calls us to a process of discernment that engages catechists, parents, and children together in recognizing the signs of faith. This presentation will examine practical and pastoral approaches for moving beyond checklists, focusing instead on prayer, participation in the liturgy, and the child’s developing relationship with Christ. By embracing discernment, parish leaders and catechists can more faithfully accompany families in preparing children to encounter the sacraments as moments of grace.

A03 Esperanza En La Oración: Un Enfoque Interactivo

C02 Hope in Prayer: An Interactive Approach

Come and answer the universal call to prayer through an interactive approach. We will start our time together with a prayer of thanksgiving with American Sign Language keywords. Drawing from Catholic tradition and the life of different saints to deepen our daily prayer life while teaching children and elementary students to do the same will be a springboard to implement practical tools and activities to engage all senses and modalities. A prayer of praise with music and movement will serve as a wrap up.

YM Leadership Training for Youth & Young Adult Leaders – From the Valley of Dry Bones to Living Ministries

As ministry leaders, we are entrusted with more than just programs — we are called to be stewards of God’s vision to evangelize young people and make disciples. But amid the demands of leadership, programs, and budgets, it’s important to take a step back and ask ourselves: Are we pursuing God’s vision or our own? Rooted in the powerful imagery of Ezekiel’s encounter with the valley of dry bones, this day of formation invites leaders who serve young people to pause, reflect, and realign. Together, we will:

  • Reclaim the divine vision God has placed on our hearts,
  • See with renewed clarity the landscape of our ministry and the needs of young people,
  • And be empowered by the Holy Spirit to speak life and hope into the ministry entrusted to us

Come – ready to be inspired, challenged, and spiritually renewed for the great vision and mission of accompanying young people in faith.

b04 Who Are You Becoming? Embracing Your Baptismal Call with Hope

“Be Who You Are and Be that Perfectly Well”. The quote from St. Francis de Sales inspires us to accept who we are as children of God and to use the gifts that are uniquely ours to spread the Good News of the Gospel.  Are you up to the challenge of uncovering your gifts, embracing your call, living your baptism, and being sent to share God’s love with the world?

C04 The Spirituality of Self Care – Being Hospitable to Ourselves and Others

Those who minister to others are constantly challenged to find the balance between nurturing others and finding time to care for ourselves.  How then do we justify setting time aside for self-care?  Yet, Jesus himself took time to renew, replenish, and rejuvenate.  Self-care is not selfish.  It is an opportunity to explore wellness as a way of life and embrace the spirituality of self-care for ourselves and those around us.

b11 The Death of the Catechist?

This is the best of times and the worst of times in parish faith formation. It’s the best of times because we have more resources than we could ever use to teach others about the faith. The number of videos, webinars, podcasts, audio books, electronic books, physical books, etc. available today is more than someone could read in a lifetime and so much of it is well-made, curated, excellent content. But it’s also the worst of times, because more and more catechists are opting to show a video by a famous Catholic speaker instead of preparing the talk or witnessing the faith themselves. Catechists in the modern parish are facilitators of discussions, video presenters, and book passer-outers. We recruit them by begging for an hour a week. But the faith is caught not taught. Disciples are made, not by awesome videos, but by true encounters with Jesus Christ our Savior through the life of disciples of Jesus. This workshop will explore the qualities and qualifications we need in catechists moving forward and how to recruit them.

D11 Our Faith is NOT a Class

If you’re teaching faith like every other class, they’ll treat it like any other class. They’ll try to get an A, but may not ever connect with the material. Faith formation is not about a grade and it goes beyond learning – it’s about helping young people to encounter Jesus Christ and giving them the tools to be lifelong disciples. To accomplish this takes out of the box thinking. But evangelizing catechesis is possible if we are willing to change our mindset. Let’s explore how to do this together.
